This week I'll share the old Singer sewing machine table and stool I got from my MIL. Alas, our pictures are in such disarray, that I can only find a picture of the table with the first coat of primer.
After a thorough cleaning, using oil to clean off some stickers, I sanded it lightly and primed with Zinsser Bullseye 123 with a foam brush. The wood was bleeding through, so I let it dry for 24 hours, recoated with primer and waited another 24 hours.
Then, I painted 2 coats using a Pittsburgh Cream Flat Latex paint I got at the Habitat for Humanity Restore. Next, I dry brushed on a light blue paint from the Restore, applied a sand colored glaze(Sand colored paint also from Restore! Glaze leftover from floor), dry brushed on some white and finally waxed the whole thing. I used an old can of Johnson Paste Wax for Fine Wood that I got at the Restore for only $2! It's a bit smelly (like shoe polish) but seems to work well.
I also recovered the pleather seat cover with some material from our old couch and spray painted the handle on the front with Tremclad Hammered in silver. The sewing machine works great and I'm so glad to have it!
