Outdoor Pics

 Hi!

My dad and stepmom have gone home now.  C and I drove them to Halifax on Thursday to catch their early morning flight on Friday.  We had a great visit and were sad to see them leave!

I took a lot of pictures outside yesterday.
Starting from the back yard, here's how the pool is looking.
We drained the pool before C's party and filled it again.  But it's been hot and is getting green where the blue part covers the water, so we're about to put it away for the summer.

Here's the herb garden on the right hand side.

Here's how it looked when I planted the herbs July 11.

And here's the garden on the left hand side.  All the herbs except the parsley have started flowering.  And you know what?  We never even used any herbs! (except maybe once..)

First planted.

Here's the pumpkin patch.

It made lots of flowers, but so far only this one tiny pumpkin!

Here's looking over toward the playhouse.

Back corner of the yard.

Dad weeded the patio.  It looks nice and neat.

The side yard with raspberries on the left.  We're starting to get some berries!

Still no work done on moving the fence back.

Toward the courtyard, which has become a boat yard.

Look how much the Virginia Creeper has creeped!

Left side of courtyard.

Right side.

Here it is at the end of May!

Right Side front garden on the right.

Corner.

Can you believe this is how it looked in May?

Front of the house.

Front garden, right. The hydrangeas are  kinda blooming, but they seem to be later than everyone else's.

Front garden, left.

Beginnings of the circle drive.  It takes a lot of space for a car to turn a circle!

Shed.

Abandoned canoe.

Trailer (and Lilly).

My dad and FIL picked so many blueberries!  I am still sorting them!

Also, a few more pics!
C in the big chair at Scooter's Dairy Bar.

N at sailing camp (in yellow life jacket).

All the sailing boats in the Charlottetown harbour.

Today K and N have gone to a regatta in C'town.

Have a great day! :-)

Stuff that's been happening lately

Hi!

Sunday morning the tide was right so K took my dad and N boating with our new little outboard motor boat.  They put the boat in at MacArthur Shore Road and went up to the valley and under 2 bridges.

After C's party on Sunday (and after the decontamination!), my dad, stepmom, C and I went to the Green Park Blueberry Social.

Enjoying the blueberry pie!

C inside the Yeo House with the crazy eyed rocking horse.
We had a good time.

We got our third veggie box yesterday.
It had yukon gold potatoes, onions, swiss chard, sugar snap peas, kale, yellow beans and carrots.
Last week's had pretty much the same with lettuce, spring turnips, onions, kale(?), yellow beans and more yukon gold potatoes.
We pay $20 a week for this.  It's the second year to have the program which is in partnership with the West Prince Sports and Recreation Council.  I like supporting the local farmer, but hope the produce will increase as the season goes on.

Yesterday was C's birthday. She got one last present to open, with lots of gifts inside.

C got to wear her new fancy dress to dinner last night, courtesy of my dad and stepmom!
I also got an early birthday gift- a light-weight jacket that will keep me warm down to 0F!  It will certainly come in handy this winter! :-)

We did our back to school shopping yesterday at Staples.  N's was only $27 (he had lot of stuff leftover from last year) and C's was about $55!  This doesn't include backpacks or lunch carriers (they're using last year's) or indoor shoes which we still have to buy!

This week is Vacation Bible School and it's the first year since 2007 that I haven't helped out!  I'm enjoying the quiet mornings with C gone to VBS and N at sailing camp.

Have a great week! :-)

C's Birthday

Hi!
Today is C's 10th birthday!  She had her party on Saturday and invited 5 friends to spend the night.
Here's our first chalkboard "art" in the front room.

C made a sign to celebrate,

and set out bowls of candies.

All the girls getting ready to eat hotdogs.

Cake face!

Opening presents!

We pulled out the couch and set up an inflatable mattress.
However, the mattress had a hole, so 2 girls ended up in C's room and the other 4 slept on the couch.

And guess what we discovered the following day?  Lice!! AAGGHH!! :-(  This is our first experience with this and never have I been so conscious of every little itch on my head!  We got quite a few letters from the school last year whenever there was a case of lice. When I was tutoring and we got a letter, I was convinced my itchy head was full of lice, but luckily it wasn't!

Anyway, the girls had fun!
Now I have a lot of hot water laundry-ing, hair combing, vacuuming, and waiting 2 weeks for the pillows, stuffed animals and C's new comforter to be decontaminated...

Hope you have a bug-free day! :-)
