March Break/Easter Re-cap

Hi!

I'm finally back to the same ole routine!
Yesterday was the first day back to school and work for everybody.  Even I had to work!
However, there was a wind storm (with a bit of snow and ice) so school was let out at 11:50 and work was cancelled at 1:00.  I was working in Kensington, so I ended up just driving the 15 minutes to Summerside to wait out the "storm" at my in-laws.  I had a nice visit and got home around 7:00.

We ended up going to Halifax for a couple nights over March Break.  We stayed in Bedford with Ken's Uncle and Aunt.

We woke up early (6:45)  on Thursday morning and got on the road around 7:15.  K drove and everybody else slept until we stopped at the Irving Big Stop in Aulac, NB for breakfast.

We drove to Dartmouth, NS where we had lunch at the Wooden Monkey at the Ferry Terminal.
See the wooden monkey head just to the right of N's head?

Since we'd eaten breakfast not too long ago, it was just a light lunch!

Here we are waiting for the ferry to go across the bay to Halifax.

It was everybody's first time on the little passenger ferry!

Up on the top deck.

We walked up to the Halifax Central Library.

Then we walked to the Museum of Natural History.
K and C are checking out some frogs.

Here's N.

This is the almost 100 year old tortoise named Gus.

This was a neat installation that showed how water flows around sand.  It was done by a projector.

Here's a quartz crystal.  I told C how my dad used to go to Crystal Island at Camp Yorktown Bay near Hot Springs, AR to hunt for crystals like this.  Then I noticed that it was from Hot Springs!  Funny!

Back on the ferry.

Here the kids are checking out the new playground equipment in Bedford.

We made it home Saturday around 4:00 and decorated Easter Eggs after dinner.

These are C's eggs on the left.  She got into Emojis this year!
(The ones on the right are ones K or I made.)

These are N's on the right.

Now, we're all back to school and work after a great break!
Have a fantastic day! :-)

Easter

Hi!

We had a nice long weekend, last weekend with Easter and all.  We dyed eggs on Saturday.

The Easter Bunny had to hide the eggs inside, since there's still so much snow outside!

Looking for eggs....

Here's the loot!

We had poached eggs for brunch.  We don't eat the dyed Easter Eggs.

For supper, we went to Summerside to eat at the in-laws.  We had turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, potatoes, green beans, corn, jello salad and a banana/orange pudding for dessert!  It was quite the spread!

The front room progress has stalled.  It's seeming like too much work... I have to figure out how I'm gonna do the ceiling.  I want to use the beaded board we had on the kids' shared room's ceiling. This means I don't have to mud the ceiling too nicely since it'll be covered. But it's the angled ceiling that's causing me concern.

I think we need to treat the angled part as the ceiling, like in the kitchen, and put bead board all the way down,. I guess I'll have to force myself to get more mudding done this weekend! ;-)

Have a good one! :-)

Snowy Front Porch Easter Decorations

Hello!

Well, it's another day off school for the kids- it's nice out, but the plows still have a lot of work to do in widening the roads.  A lot of roads are still one lanes with big drifts on either side.

Here are some pics.

This shows how high the snow is up on the windows in the back room.

Here is how high the snow is on the kitchen windows!

C was cleaning up the front porch today so we decided to put up our Easter things.  I'm using the same banner as last year.

C put up some little eggs under the Welcome Sign.

We thought we'd see how the fake Easter grass would hold up with some ceramic egg candles. (C thought the cats might get into it... We'll see!)

Here's looking at the side of the porch with all our snow shoes.  The trash can was supposed to hold our salt and sand for the steps, but we never got around to filling it up and fixing the lid so it wouldn't blow open (or away!)

This is looking toward the shed.  We can't remove the evergreens from the window boxes yet because they're frozen into the dirt!

Here's the other side with all the snow shovels and a blue sled.

Down the front stairs to the car.  We've had to park here (where there's supposed to be a walkway and grass) since the snow is too high to clear where the "new" driveway is.

Here's a view of the side of the porch.

Here's how high the drift is just in front of the courtyard.
(And this isn't actually the highest drift!)

Here's C with our cat, Paris.

And here's our cat, Lilly.

Hope you're having a great week!  We should be back to our normal schedule tomorrow.
:-)
