N's Closet

Hi again!

I haven't been working on too many projects, but one thing I've been doing is
some work on N"s closet.

This is a little nook.
It will serve as a ladder for our attic access!

Oh, and look!  The floor is done!

That was a few weeks ago.
Here's some more current progress.
The drywall is cut for the left side.

We got a generator so K has been doing some wiring in the back part.

I have a big piece of drywall for the right of the electric box, but there is still some wiring to do here.
It looks a little dangerous, but it's perfectly safe! ;-)

This work clears out the drywall that was being stored in the master bath.  We're making our plans for the bathroom, which couldn't come at a better time.  Our lone bathroom is quite busy in the mornings and nights with a teenager, a tween and two adults!

Have a fantastic day! :-)

Utility Closet/ N's Closet

Hello!

Now that we've moved the laundry to the hallway, the utility closet in the back of N's room's closet is "done".
Here's the closet before we moved the utilities in.
That's the shelf K built a stand for the pressure tank.

Now, the hot water heater is on top and our pressure tank for the well is the blue thing on the bottom.

We will put a removable panel here so the front half will be like a regular closet for N.

Now there's a curtain (pulled to left side).

Right side.

Left side.

Have a wonderful day! :-)

N's Closet

Hi!

It's Wednesday already!  Monday was (Canadian) Thanksgiving, so it was a day off for everyone.
We had a lovely dinner Sunday night at the In-laws.

We got a lot of rain and wind on Monday.  Not directly from Hurricane Matthew, but sort of.  According to our weather man, the rain came up from Matthew and met with a cold front here which made more wind.  A lot of people lost power (us only briefly) and it turns out, school was delayed an hour for us and closed all day for schools in the Eastern part of PEI.

Over the weekend, we got some work done in N's closet, which will have the hot water heater and pressure tank in the back half.
Here's K doing some wiring.

K had put a hole in the floor many years ago to get under the house in the winter.  We'd covered it with an extra piece of plywood (that you can see above under the black hose.)

On the right side of the closet is the Electric panel. K put in new framing to bring the wall out.

New subfloor with no hole!

Back of closet. The black hose is temporarily hooked up to the pipes that go to the new laundry closet.

Left side.

Here the right wall is done and insulated.  Still have a bit more wiring to do so the vapor barrier plastic is not all taped up.

We had just enough flooring to go in the back part of the closet. I actually Tuck Taped two pieces together (see the white seam?), but it'll just be under our water stuff so it's all good!

K has gone to visit his sister this week, so the project is on hold.

Hope you're having a great week! :-)

Shelves, etc.

Hi!

We had another snow day yesterday!  Now it's back to school...

C has been wanting shelves above her desk for a while now. She wanted to get rid of the secretary insert on top of the desk so she'd have more desk top space.  I finally got around to making the shelves last weekend.  I used the leftover birch plywood from the bench in the old front room.  Last summer, my dad had cut this plywood so I could build the benches under the front room lockers.  But, I decided they should be cushioned, so I ended up using different (not so nice) plywood.
So, I used the nice birch plywood for C's shelves!
We primed and painted the shelves on the weekend.  The desk top had a bunch of permanent marker marks on it, so it got primed and re-painted on the weekend, too. I put the shelves up while C was at school on Monday and she was very pleased to see them up when she got home! I used the brackets from the shelves that are now sitting under the recycling. (Those shelves were nice, but they weren't quite long enough to use above the desk.) I put a small shelf from the storage room on the bottom so she'd have room for pens, pencils, etc.  I wasn't sure if it should get painted, but for now it's staying as is.

C rearranges her room often, but this is how her room looked January, 2015.
Her desk had been moved to where the bookshelf is now. You can see the secretary insert on the back of the desk.

N wanted more desk top space, so he got the other birch plywood piece cut to fit beside his desk.
It sits on top of a shelf unit.

Here's how this corner looked in May, 2015.

I put up another little shelf from the storage room for Pokemon stuff.

Before, it was just a blank wall.

It's nice to get these little projects done (and use up some materials!)

Enjoy the rest of your week! :-)

Boy's Room

Hi!

Wanna see N's new green room?

Here are some in progress pics.

N was very helpful.  I skim coated the walls to make them less textured.  Then we primed them.  I cut in the primer and N used the roller.

We did this on Friday,

Then Saturday morning we did the first coat of paint with me cutting in and N on the roller. We had to go to town for my FIL's birthday dinner that evening, so when we got home I did the final coat of paint.  N stayed in town, so he got the reveal on Sunday.  He likes it!  (Now C wants to redo her room (again!)!)

Here are some before/ after pics.
