Master Bedroom

Hiya!

We are enjoying March Break this week.  Today we are expecting a snow storm!

I also moved stuff in the master bedroom.

I moved the bottom half of the secretary to the side of the bed.

It's a bit woody now with the dresser also natural, so the secretary may get painted.

Here's a pretty one.

Here's the sewing table that was there before.

The table ended up in the back room.

Have a wonderful day!!

Master Bedroom

Hi!
I've been playing around with the master bedroom.

I finally filled in that little nook in the cedar wall.
I tried to find shingles that would match, but you can see some are darker and some not so grey.  Perhaps I can do something- Bleach, Ocyclean- to fix it?

Here's the nook before (with my jewelry frame up beside it).
It doesn't look so bad there, but it was off center to the bed when it's on that wall.

I removed the moldings and framed out the opening with 2x3's.  I put drywall up and then nailed on the cedar shingles.

A few months ago, we cut the top part of the footboard, so it fits right under the end of our homemade bed frame.
Still need to cut a board on the bed on the right side, so it won't be sticking out so much.

I'd like to add the top part of the footboard to the headboard.
Kinda like this, but I'll cut the headboard "arms" down, so it's not so tall!

I also cut a rug!  LOL!
Here it is in the kitchen when I'd moved it out to work on the bedroom last March.

It's 5x8.  I cut it in half lengthwise to make 2- 5x4 pieces which I put on both sides of the bed (with the cut ends under the bed).
We'll see how the cut ends hold up!

I changed out the fabric I was using for a bedskirt with a sheet.

I used the old bedskirt fabric to beef up the curtains.

I thought they should be wider so I took the material, and put it beside the black out curtains.

I guess they still need wider rods and it'd be nice to fix up the black outs as roman blinds...

When the bed was over here, I had a wall full of curtains!
This was before I did all the drywall work.  I thought it would disguise the fact that the window was off center.  BTW, that material came from a duvet cover and pillow shams.  I got it when my dad and stepmom came to stay with us in 2012 before they got their trailer.  They stayed in C's room when it looked like this (with the door going in from the kitchen).

And one last thing! My jewelry holder (from nook picture), stays on the front wall now.

The bedroom is coming together, but we still have the flooring for N's closet in here.
Maybe that's a project for next week!

Have a fantastic weekend! :-)

Musical Chairs (with Tables)

Hi!
I'm back again!

Besides being busy with family stuff this summer,  I've done a few things around the house.
One little thing is, I moved some tables around.

This little table that I made many years ago, was on the front porch.

I moved it inside by the couch.

The sewing machine was there before.

I moved it to the master bedroom,

where the black iron table used to be.

And, the black table got moved to the front porch!

Enjoy your day! :-)

Weekend Update

Hi!

How was your weekend?  It was "Spring Forward" on Sunday, and we're all feeling a bit tired this Monday morning.

I finished up a bit of shingling in the master bedroom.
(Still need a few plugs installed!)

Here's how it looked before.

Here's the top part.

And Before.

A couple weekends ago in Charlottetown, we stopped by the Habitat ReStore and I got a new globe for the hall light.  Before, it was a clear glass cover from an outside "jam jar" style light.  (I bought the light many years ago at the Summerside ReStore.  It came with a pretty white bubbly glass cover, but it got broken so we had been using the clear cover.)

It more matches the kitchen lights.
I did this when K was on his trip and he still hasn't noticed I changed it!

When we started re-doing the master bedroom, I needed to move the rug out so it wouldn't get dusty and painty.  I put it under the kitchen table.  I kinda like it here, but the ends roll up a bit so not sure if it will stay.
I put the rug upside down!

In other news, C started gymnastics last Wednesday!
She's been wanting to do this for a while.  She went to her first class and loved it!

We have a busy week with activities every night this week.  Friday, March Break Starts and the kids are off school until March 29!  No plans yet...

Have a great week! :-)

Master Bedroom

Hi!

Are you tired of reading about my master bedroom yet?  Well, it's (almost) done!
I have a few mouldings to put up, some plugs to install and a light fixture to modify and install and I think that's it....

But for now, the big reveal!
(I guess I'll keep the nook and jewelry holder up for a while.)

I started the painting the trim on Friday.
(See the red Tuck Tape in the corner?  It needs a 1x3 to cover it.)

I got called in to work at the Summerside Library on Saturday, so I started painting the walls on Sunday.
Here's after one coat of paint.

I put the second coat of paint on Monday morning.

Here's that corner, in progress.

After the paint had dried a little bit, I cleaned up.

Done- notice the crown moulding!

And another in progress...

The paint color is High Tide by Orbit.
It covers well, but does require 2 coats and smells a little (it's low VOC).

I used a No Voc Primer by Beauti-Tone from Home Hardware.

The trim is CIL Realife Door & Trim from Canadian Tire.

The bedroom looks nice, but the front room is a mess!

And so is the hallway.

I'm going to cut a couple more boards this morning- the 1x3 and an angled 1x6 (!) and then I'll start the clean up!

Have a great day! :-)
