Weekend Update- C's Party

Hi!
How was your weekend?  We had a busy one!

Friday morning, we had the Vacation Bible School Show and picnic with C.  N finished up his sailing classes and had a bbq that evening.  We also had a lobster dinner at the in-laws on Friday!  Then my dad and stepmom took the kids to Ghost Stories at the Yeo House.

Saturday, C had her birthday party from 1:00-6:00.

Here's the cake she made with her grammy and decorated herself!

While some of the kids were lounging outside,

the adults were having mussels inside.
Then we had grilled hotdogs (for kids), sausages (for adults) and a veggie dog (for me!).

Besides the cake C made, there was also an ice cream cake!
C invited 8 girls and we had 8 adults plus N and C, so we weren't sure the ice cream cake would be enough.  Turns out it would've been, but it was nice to have both cakes!

Cutting the cake.

Opening gifts.

It was a fun time!
Have a great week! :-)

Hallway Closet

Hi!

I've been working on the hallway closet (man, we went from having just one closet in the old master bedroom- now N's room- to having 6!  Too many closets!).  Anyway, it will eventually be the laundry closet.

Since I've moved all the stuff that was there to the front closet, it was time to start painting.

This is the door that used to go to the laundry room in N's closet.  I was using up extra bedroom paint (from master bedroom when it was purple!).  It says "Wash the yrs go by".

Here it is primed.

I didn't wash my roller from when it had floor paint on it, so it's streaky.

I got it painted.

Now I have to finish the cedar shingle wall  with some more shingles.

Then I need to paint the floor....

Hope you're having a good day! :-)

Weekend Update

Hi!
How was your weekend?
We had a good one.

On Sunday, N was in a Regatta in Charlottetown where he and his teammate (sailmate?) came in 3rd!

C and I worked at the Blueberry Social at Green Park.
C served pie
and I was in charge of the jail- you can buy a ticket for $1 and then put someone in jail for 5 minutes.  I sat by the "jail" with a box to collect tickets and my phone to use as a timer.

After the social, we went with my dad and stepmom to meet my inlaws at Milligan's Wharf.
C did some handstands.

Today, C and I cut some flowers for N's room,

C's room

and the front room.

Speaking of the front room, I've moved all the stuff into the closet.

Most of this stuff came from the hallway closet,
which I'm now working on....

Have a great week! :-)

Front Room Closet

Hello!

I've been getting some work done on the front room closet.

Here's where we left off in May.

I put up the 1x3s between the drywall pieces.
My dad helped with the mouldings.

After mudding and sanding, I primed and painted.

I used leftover grey front room paint for the walls and leftover blue master
bedroom paint for the ceiling.

After a second coat of paint (where I accidentally used blue paint for the side wall!),
I started the floor.

I referred to my previous post about finishing the front room floors, so I'd know what to do.
Here's is the basecoat of blue (diluted with 10% water).

While I had the blue paint out, I primed the hidden hallway closet floor.
I put another coat of blue in the closet the next afternoon. I waited a few days before moving the tote and vacuum back in.

I did a coat of grey in the front room closet the after 24 hours and then the dark grey diamond stencil after another 24 hours.
Somehow things got a little wonky, since I had to start at the back and work my way toward the previously painted floor.

After another 24 hours, I did the off white stencil and a bit of filling in with the light grey and dark grey paints.

Here's the finished floor.  I think it looks nice.

When C came home from camp I told her there was wet paint in the closet and she didn't even realize it was on the floor because it just looks like it's always been there (which is good!).

Now I have to finish up the baseboards, make some shelves and hang a rod....

Have a great weekend! :-)

C's Birthday!

Hi!

Yesterday, I picked C up at Camp.  They had a little service before the actual pick up.  C is in the orange on the right.

It also happened to be her 11th birthday!

Her party is next Saturday, but we got a little cake just for today.

Happy Birthday!
:-)

Musical Chairs (with Tables)

Hi!
I'm back again!

Besides being busy with family stuff this summer,  I've done a few things around the house.
One little thing is, I moved some tables around.

This little table that I made many years ago, was on the front porch.

I moved it inside by the couch.

The sewing machine was there before.

I moved it to the master bedroom,

where the black iron table used to be.

And, the black table got moved to the front porch!

Enjoy your day! :-)

Summer Update

Hi!
Wow, has it been one month since I've posted?  I guess so!!

Summer is going by...
We're having  fun...

K and N got the back leveled for the pool.

The whole family went to Johnson Shore Inn with K's parents, his aunt and uncle, and sister and brother-in-law.
On the way home, we stopped by Charlottetown to go to the newly opened Freak Lunchbox.

I painted some metal and plastic stuff with black chalkboard spray paint.

C and I took a quick trip to the Halifax airport to pick up my dad and step mom.

We enjoyed the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival Dinner with my in-laws.

I volunteered at the canteen during the Oyster Fest Oyster Shucking Championship.

My dad worked on clearing the side yard.
He's in blue, near the tree in the middle background.

Here he is using the sling blade,

and mowing.

All cleared!

N did a computer camp last week in Alberton, where he learned about coding.

We are watching the Olympics in Rio.

Yesterday, we took C to Camp Keir where she'll be for the next 3 days!

I've worked a couple times in Summerside and Kensington.

Today, N started Sailing Camp.

Have a great day (week? (month?))!!
:-)
