C's Week (and St. Patrick's Day)

Hi!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

C has had a busy week this week.
First, she had a 4H Communications night on Monday.
She did a speech on gymnastics.
(Excuse the blurry pic.)

It was a very informative night with lots of great speeches and demonstrations.

Then, on Wednesday, C presented her Science Fair project, "Optical Illusions- How to Build an Infinity Mirror" with her partner.
Fantastic job on both, C!!

Next week is March Break so it will be a well deserved break.
Hope you remembered to wear green today!

March

Hi!

It's March already!

We've had a few storm days.  This happened back on Feb. 15 and 16.

There was no school on the 16th and 17th.

C built a fort.

  N got out too!

Have a great day! :-)

Update

Oh, hi!
I hadn't realized it had been so long since I've written!

We had a couple "ice" days with no-school or work, on Jan 25 and Feb 8.
Those were both Wednesdays. Feb 1, another Wednesday, was a no-school day (for Teacher's Professional Development).  N has after school Senior Band on Wednesdays.  With 2 cancellations and those no-school days, he hasn't had band since before Christmas!  Although, he does still have music class during school, so he hasn't been completely without!

We took a trip to Halifax on Jan 29th to get C's passport.  We stayed at K's Aunt and Uncle's and had a great visit.
We went to the Emera Oval.  It's an outdoor ice skating rink close to downtown Halifax.
K and C went skating.

You can borrow skates for free and it's also free to skate!

C's skates weren't very sharp and she found it hard to skate.  K thought his skates were pretty comfortable!
He's on the lookout for new ice skates, since the ones he currently has are uncomfortable. Too bad he couldn't have bought those!

We got some snow last night from Storm Niko- about a foot.
Today is a Professional Development day for the kids (no school anyway) and K's work is also closed.

K is clearing the driveway.

C is clearing the steps!

Have a great weekend! :-)

TGIF

Hi again!

We made it back to the pond on Tuesday.

C decided to try her handstand again.

She got it!

Putting skates on...

C made it on the ice first.

We shoveled out a boundary for skating.

Skating!

I'm glad we got out skating this year.  Last year we didn't make it.  If we get too much snow, we're not able to clear the pond and the ice gets bumpy, so we were lucky to have good conditions!

Have a great weekend! :-)

The Pond

Hi!

We've had some excellent ice making conditions for the pond- not a lot of snow and really cold temps this past weekend.  It got down to Neg20C (Neg 4F) with an even colder wind chill.
The kids and I went to check it out on Sunday.

Someone put a bridge across the stream for 4 wheelers.

The ice seems thick enough!

We didn't actually take skates.
Instead, we just played around.
I stepped out "HELLO" and N shovelled it.
It's kinda hard to see the "O", though!

C thought she might do a handstand on the bridge,

But then decided against it and did one on the ground.

Playing with ice.

Good thing N's boots are waterproof!

Have a great week! :-)
