First Snow!

Hi!
Hope all those in the US had a great Thanksgiving last Thursday!

We had our first snow overnight!
We were kinda expecting it, but not really so much!
The kids had an hour delay for school today, so that was nice.

Last Sunday the kids were out raking leaves,

and here's what it looks like now!
Pretty!

Also, last Saturday, we got the last bit of raspberries from our bushes!
This is the latest in the year that I remember getting berries.

I expect this snow will melt away in a bit, although we may get some more snow tomorrow!  The yard was cleaned up and ready for winter, except for a few things over by the courtyard that need to go to the Waste Watch. Maybe I'll get that done sometime this week....

Have a great day! 😃

Utility Closet/ N's Closet

Hello!

Now that we've moved the laundry to the hallway, the utility closet in the back of N's room's closet is "done".
Here's the closet before we moved the utilities in.
That's the shelf K built a stand for the pressure tank.

Now, the hot water heater is on top and our pressure tank for the well is the blue thing on the bottom.

We will put a removable panel here so the front half will be like a regular closet for N.

Now there's a curtain (pulled to left side).

Right side.

Left side.

Have a wonderful day! :-)

Laundry Closet Shelves (Kreg Jig project #5)

Hi again!

Not too many projects going on lately.  Although, I did get the shelves up on the right hand side of  the "new" laundry closet.

Before:

The bottom shelf sticks out a bit so I can use it for folding clothes.

I still have room to reach underneath for the trash and step stool.

The second shelf holds paper towels and tissues.

Third shelf is for toilet paper.

Other side.

I have set up a metal shelf temporarily on top of the dryer, for other laundry stuff.

For the side shelves I used leftover wood from C's dollhouse.

The pieces weren't wide enough or deep enough, so I had to Kreg Jig pieces together.
This blurry pic is from the bottom shelf.  It needed to be 17 inches wide and the Dollhouse boards were only 12 inches wide.  So, I joined a piece of  5 inch wide 3/4" plywood to make up the difference. It's the deepest shelf at 30 inches.

Here the other two shelves are getting lined up.
I had to Kreg Jig them so they'd be deep enough.  They only had to be 24 inches deep. I had two pieces that were 36 inches long x 12 inches wide, so I cut them to 17 inches and joined them.

Everything is fitting in nicely.

You can see from this pic that I covered the boards with some leftover wallpaper and shelf liner.

The wallpaper came from the wardrobe pantry and my MIL gave me the clear ridged shelf liner.

I also put in a silver drying bar and a green hanging "basket" for stray socks (kids' socks in bottom and adults' in the middle).
All in all, I'm very pleased with the results!
Have a great day! :-)

Remembrance/Veteran's Day

Hi!

Friday was Remembrance Day here in Canada and Veteran's Day in the States.
We remembered by attending services at school on Thursday and at the Legion on Friday.

Here's C at her school. She is at the podium narrating a play put on by the Grade 6's.

The Ellerslie Elementary Choir performed at the Legion on Friday.  C is on the left.

Thank you to all the Veterans!

Halloween!

Hi!
Goodness, where did October go?  Last night was Halloween!
We only did a few decorations around the house (not like last year when we had a Halloween Party).

Notice my pumpkin above matches the pillow on the little bench below.

We put the bats up on the other side of the kitchen.

The kids carved pumpkins Sunday afternoon.

N's is on the left, C's on the right.

C also decided to paint a pumpkin.

This year, C was a cat.  We bought the ears and tail (and also the black pants and shirt which hopefully she'll wear again).  She had the fur shawl from a dress from her grandparents.
(N decided not to go trick or treating again this year.)

Two friends came over and went trick or treating with her.

Here they are racing back to the van after getting some treats..

We went from 5:20 to about 7:40.  I'd drop the girls off and they'd walk  run from house to house, if they were close, and then we'd drive off to the next place.

Here's all the stuff C got!!
We had our porch lights turned off since K was doing plumbing work in the back of N's closet and N didn't want to answer the door.  However, we still got one trick-or-treater (a friend of C's).

Have a great week! :-)

K's Birthday

Hi!

K had his 49th Birthday last week.

We had dinner at his parents'.

Opening presents.

Here is a pretty sunrise.
It's so dark in the mornings when I get up at 7:00.  I'll be glad when we turn the clocks back next weekend.

Have a great week! :-)
