Laundry Closet Shelves (Kreg Jig project #5)

Hi again!

Not too many projects going on lately.  Although, I did get the shelves up on the right hand side of  the "new" laundry closet.

Before:

The bottom shelf sticks out a bit so I can use it for folding clothes.

I still have room to reach underneath for the trash and step stool.

The second shelf holds paper towels and tissues.

Third shelf is for toilet paper.

Other side.

I have set up a metal shelf temporarily on top of the dryer, for other laundry stuff.

For the side shelves I used leftover wood from C's dollhouse.

The pieces weren't wide enough or deep enough, so I had to Kreg Jig pieces together.
This blurry pic is from the bottom shelf.  It needed to be 17 inches wide and the Dollhouse boards were only 12 inches wide.  So, I joined a piece of  5 inch wide 3/4" plywood to make up the difference. It's the deepest shelf at 30 inches.

Here the other two shelves are getting lined up.
I had to Kreg Jig them so they'd be deep enough.  They only had to be 24 inches deep. I had two pieces that were 36 inches long x 12 inches wide, so I cut them to 17 inches and joined them.

Everything is fitting in nicely.

You can see from this pic that I covered the boards with some leftover wallpaper and shelf liner.

The wallpaper came from the wardrobe pantry and my MIL gave me the clear ridged shelf liner.

I also put in a silver drying bar and a green hanging "basket" for stray socks (kids' socks in bottom and adults' in the middle).
All in all, I'm very pleased with the results!
Have a great day! :-)

Dirty Laundry

Hello!
How's it going?  I'm still coughing away, but otherwise am fine!

Besides my wonderful birthday celebration on the weekend, I also got the fabulous gift of laundry in the hallway!
Ken got the machine moved on Sunday while the kids and I were in town for swim lessons.
I did the first load Sunday evening!

It's still a bit of mess in there.
I'd like to have some shelves on the side, but it's so convenient! I can't believe it's moved after all this time!

Now, N's closet is even more of a mess.
And this if after I "cleaned up" the floor! Yuck!  I hope the new laundry closet will not get so messy.

Anyway, the back half N's closet will hold the hot water tank and pressure tank (for the well) which are now outside in the breezeway in the "closet" behind the green "curtain".

It has always seemed crazy to have our water stuff out here in the winter when it gets so cold.

Maybe we'll have some savings on our electric bill this year since the HW tank won't have to work so hard to heat the water.

And, it'll be nice to have this space cleared out!

Have a wonderful day! :-)

Laundry Closet

Hi!
How's your week going? Mine is going fine, but I've been sick so I haven't been doing much...

K has been busy, though, working on the laundry closet so we can move the washer and dryer out of N's closet

and into the hallway.

It's not very photogenic stuff, but it's been a lot of work in the closets and under the house, hooking up the electricity, water and drains.
It's very exciting to be so close to getting this finished!

Hope you have a fantastic day! :-)

Weekly Recap

Hi!

This is another slow week for projects.  I only did a few little things around the house.  Such as, putting our tools in a toolbox!
I didn't take a Before Pic, but the tools used to be in a plastic drawer behind the sewing machine. My first idea was that the drawer would stay in its holder, but it never did. Then it finally dawned on me, that that drawer was kinda like a toolbox without a lid. HH seems to like to collect tool boxes, so we had about 3 empty ones in the storage room.  I was able to put our most used tools into the small box above.  The rest of the stuff from the drawer went out to the tool bench in the breezweay.  So, that's another thing to clean up, but I'll do that on another, warmer day!

Here's a pic of the laundry closet.  It's currently in DS's closet and will eventually be in the hall closet.
As I was in a cleaning mode this week, I moved the white plastic drawers (similar to where the tools used to live, but that was smaller and in the kitchen). They used to be in the above pic on the right.  Below is a pic of the future laundry closet, looking into the master bedroom closet.  You can see the drawers on the right.  The laundry will eventually go kinda where the shoes are...

And in the most exciting news this week, we got our rug from Cottage Industry!  I got a gift certificate Christmas 2012 and this is what I finally bought a couple weeks before Christmas 2012! It came in last week.  HH went to Charlottetown on Tuesday and he picked it up then.

So, here it is! Since it took so long to get here, I was afraid it would be different than I remembered but it's pretty much like I thought it would be, so that's good.

This is an indoor/outdoor Dash & Albert rug that will go in the front room. However, because it's been so cold, HH suggested it go in our bedroom to help keep the floor warm. Here's a pic from the bedroom looking out into the hall. Doesn't it go well with the painted hall rug?  It's not exactly the same, but it looks nice.
Can you believe I haven't even tried it out in the front room yet? I may do it today! :-)  The front room floor colors are the same as the hallway floor so I'm sure it'll look good.  Except the front room is such a mess now.... Oh, well.

We are supposed to get more snow Saturday night.  This time it'll be right around freezing, so it'll be slushy snow.  Have a great weekend! :-)
