N's Closet

Hi!

It's Wednesday already!  Monday was (Canadian) Thanksgiving, so it was a day off for everyone.
We had a lovely dinner Sunday night at the In-laws.

We got a lot of rain and wind on Monday.  Not directly from Hurricane Matthew, but sort of.  According to our weather man, the rain came up from Matthew and met with a cold front here which made more wind.  A lot of people lost power (us only briefly) and it turns out, school was delayed an hour for us and closed all day for schools in the Eastern part of PEI.

Over the weekend, we got some work done in N's closet, which will have the hot water heater and pressure tank in the back half.
Here's K doing some wiring.

K had put a hole in the floor many years ago to get under the house in the winter.  We'd covered it with an extra piece of plywood (that you can see above under the black hose.)

On the right side of the closet is the Electric panel. K put in new framing to bring the wall out.

New subfloor with no hole!

Back of closet. The black hose is temporarily hooked up to the pipes that go to the new laundry closet.

Left side.

Here the right wall is done and insulated.  Still have a bit more wiring to do so the vapor barrier plastic is not all taped up.

We had just enough flooring to go in the back part of the closet. I actually Tuck Taped two pieces together (see the white seam?), but it'll just be under our water stuff so it's all good!

K has gone to visit his sister this week, so the project is on hold.

Hope you're having a great week! :-)

Apple Picking

Hi!
It's that time of year when the apple orchards are open and ready for picking.
The kids and I went Monday afternoon. It was a great time to go, since we missed the super busy weekend crowd.

We picked up a wagon and some baskets and went off to search for Honeycrisp apples.

And Cortlands.

Delicious!

Riding in the wagon.

Oops, can you tell that's N who has fallen off the wagon?

He's back on!

C wanted to pick an apple while in the wagon.

She got it!

Final gymnastics move!

Enjoy your day! :-)

Dirty Laundry

Hello!
How's it going?  I'm still coughing away, but otherwise am fine!

Besides my wonderful birthday celebration on the weekend, I also got the fabulous gift of laundry in the hallway!
Ken got the machine moved on Sunday while the kids and I were in town for swim lessons.
I did the first load Sunday evening!

It's still a bit of mess in there.
I'd like to have some shelves on the side, but it's so convenient! I can't believe it's moved after all this time!

Now, N's closet is even more of a mess.
And this if after I "cleaned up" the floor! Yuck!  I hope the new laundry closet will not get so messy.

Anyway, the back half N's closet will hold the hot water tank and pressure tank (for the well) which are now outside in the breezeway in the "closet" behind the green "curtain".

It has always seemed crazy to have our water stuff out here in the winter when it gets so cold.

Maybe we'll have some savings on our electric bill this year since the HW tank won't have to work so hard to heat the water.

And, it'll be nice to have this space cleared out!

Have a wonderful day! :-)

Birthday Weekend

Hi!

It was my birthday on Saturday!  I was thinking I was only turning 45, but then K reminded me it was actually 46!  Can that be true? I guess it is!

I had a nice day.  I got to work at the local Tyne Valley Library for the first time since I started back in Jan 2015. It was only for 4 hours which was good since I'm still getting over my cold/sickness.  I've got a bad cough and ended up driving down to the library even though I could walk down in about 10 minutes.

After work, K cooked dinner and then we had my favorite cake with vanilla butter cream icing!

I opened presents and then I got the kids to watch "The Sound of Music" with me.  Actually, we only watched about 1/2 of it and then took a break to finish it on Sunday.

The weather was really nice on Sunday so after swimming lessons we had our lunch/dinner outside on the patio.  N and K got a fire going in the fire pit and C made Smores.  We started watching Sound of Music and 10 minutes into the second half, there was actually an intermission! I guess they've recently redone the movie so the quality was really good and was enjoyed by all!

Hope you have a great week! :-)
