So, it's Easter Monday and that means everybody's home today. My post will just be a short one!
We had a nice Easter weekend (with Friday off for everyone as well). Yesterday we went to the in-laws for Easter dinner.
This weekend, HH came up with a great idea for the side back door rug. I made a denim rug a while ago from a pattern I found in Reinvention. I used a pair of HH's old jeans and bought another pair from Frenchy's for $1. I really like the rug, but I never put a backing on it and it had the problem of sliding all around.
Now, I know I could buy a rug pad, but they cost as much as a cheap rug and I didn't see the point of saving money by making a rug and then buying something else to put under it. I thought I'd maybe use the super old rug with the melted-in circle from our kerosene heater, but it was just too gross. I wasn't even sure where it was, but I found it this weekend in the shed. Anyway, HH used to own a computer shop and he had a ton of old mouse pads. I thought those would hold the rug down, but I couldn't find any. I must've given them away to the Salvation Army. So, as I was telling HH this, he suggested using an old yoga mat! Well, I have an old yoga mat (I actually have 2 yoga mats and a pilates one.) I took the old yoga mat from our storage room and cut it to size and the rug has been pretty stationary ever since!
Yay for the little things! :-)
