What We did on the Weekend

Hello!
I finally got another project on the go.  It's the front room ceiling!

Back in April, we got this nailer to help with the ceiling.

Here we'd tested out one board.
K could do the nailer, but it was too hard for me to use to get the nails into the studs.  So, I hammered nails into the ceiling to get the job done. It took two days (working a few hours each day.) And boy are my arms tired!
Here's looking from the front door, toward the (almost) finished locker.

Here's how it used to look with the drywalled, messily mudded, primed ceiling.

The boards came from the kids' room that is now C's room. That room
 had the natural boards.
(Sorry couldn't find a pic-will have to search the Archives)

But we also had some boards from the living room ceiling.  That ceiling was painted paneling with the beaded boards put up to hide the seams.  Here's an old picture with 1/2 the ceiling torn down already.

Luckily, we had just enough boards to use up for the front room ceiling.  I think we have just one 6 ft. board and about four 4 ft. boards leftover!  I love it when I can use up stuff!

Here's looking towards the hallway.

Standing at hallway door, looking toward the front door.

Here's how it looked before.

And over  by the window.  I even got the angled part of the ceiling done!
Now I have to rip 4 boards to finish it up.  Ripping is one of my least favorite things to do, but with our cordless Ryobi 18v saw, it's much easier than trying to use the big heavy Skil Saw.

We're going to leave the ceiling as-is for a while.  I may decide to white wash it later to brighten it up, or I may want to go ahead and paint it all.  But that's a project for another day!

Also, this weekend, N got to go flying with COPA for Kids again.
Here are some pics he took from the plane.

Here's N with the Pilot.

It's the first day of Summer Vacay!  It's rainy today.  No plans....

Have a great week! :-)
