Front Room Floor

Way back in October, 2013 I started painting the front room floor.
Here's how it turned out.
You can't see in the above pic, but there was a strip on the right that never got painted.

Here it is.

I looked up my old notes, to  remember how I did it.

Here's what I did this time around.  On Wednesday, June 3 I finished screwing in the plywood and filled the holes with wood fill.  I also filled the seams.  After this was dry, I sanded the fill with 60 grit sandpaper. Then I used my sander and 150 grit to go over the entire floor that wasn't painted already.  My sander quit working after I finished the part under the coat locker so I used a wooden block and 150 grit to finish.  I then swept and cleaned the floor with a wet rag.

Now the fun part!  Friday morning, I primed with Dark Blue floor paint, diluted with 10% water.
  I used a large brush.

Then it had to dry for 24 hours!  I discovered that the woodfill I put in the seams was coming out so I used latex acrylic caulking to fill them.

Saturday afternoon, I put a coat of light grey on with a brush.

Sunday evening, I used my homemade stencil to put on the dark grey paint.  I used a roller brush.

Monday evening I finished it up.  I put the cream colored paint on with another stencil and roller.  This time I dabbed the roller more than rolling.  I also had to use a small artist's brush to fill in where the stencil didn't meet the grey (light and dark) paints.  I also filled in the light grey on the seam using a medium brush and a small artist's brush.

Here's the final result!
It blends right in with the previously painted floor!  Which is good.

Now I have to paint in the closet on the left side.

Right now our chop saw is in there and we're still kinda using it, so it may be a while before I get to that...

Have a great day! :-)
