Outdoor Table (Before)

Hi!

You may have noticed that we ate outside last week.
And you may have noticed that we're sitting at a cute table in our yard, instead of at the table on our patio.

Well, that table is a "new" one!  I've been looking for an outdoor table for a while.  Here's a picture from a post in Feb 2014.
Back when we had the Restore in Summerside, they had wooden kitchen tables for $20.  I thought this was normal, but I think it was just because they were closing the store!  When I checked at the Charlottetown Restore, they had tables for $100!  Although, outdoor furniture can be very expensive, this was still more than I wanted to pay.  So, I kept looking...

Until Tuesday, when I stopped at an "antique" store to check on a bike for N. It turned out the bike was too big, but I found a little table!
For only $20!

It's a little rough!

With scratches and graffiti!

But nothing I can't fix up!  I've already sanded off the top and plan to paint it with some leftover floor/porch paint.

I really like that we can move it around.  Here it is sitting on the patio.

So, after I primed the table with shellac primer on the spots with markers, I used this primer on the rest of the table.

Then I got out the floor paint which says do not prime on horizontal surfaces! So, we'll see how the paint holds up..

Here is the table with 2 coats of grey floor paint.
(The kids set up the tent and slept there Saturday night.)

Here's another view of the table.
It makes me see that I really need to get those benches painted (and the legs notched out so they're not so tippy!). This is not the final "after" of the table. I plan on putting some stripes on it, so stay tuned!

Have a great day! :-)
