Hi!
Well, we made it thru Halloween! Actually, it was pretty good. We drove down to the PO, and walked up and down the hill to the bank and back. Then we drove to the kids' principal's house. On the way, we stopped at a few houses and I waited in the car while they went up by themselves. Then it was back to the valley, up another hill, and finally back up the hill to our house, stopping at a few more places along the way. HH stayed home to hand out candy. We got 4 trick-or-treaters!
Here are the kids's costumes!
DD's dress came from the thrift store. It was a lady's size 8 strapless bridesmaid dress that I got for $3. I took it in at the sides. I sewed it loosely by hand because my sewing machine wasn't working! Then, I had to do one side twice because I made it too tight the first time. I had to take some material off the bottom to make it shorter and I used iron-on hem tape to hem it. With the extra material I made straps. I used the iron-on hem tape to bind the edges together and then hand sewed the straps onto the dress. She wore it skating on Sat, at school yesterday afternoon and trick-or-treating last night. Everything held together pretty well, except one strap broke when we were almost home last night! She already had the crown, jewelry, coat and little sweater. DS had planned to go as Steve from Minecraft, but changed his mind. Last year he didn't even go trick-or-treating, but yesterday he wore the mask we bought last year (or maybe even the year before!) and went!
Here's all the loot they got!
Today is raining and warm (with a high of 16C (about 60F). (BTW, DS wore pants to school today. He's been wearing shorts all year! Even though it's warm today and it's been cold all week!) So anyway, I think I'll go on my walk tomorrow. :-)
It'd been so cold and frosty I kinda gave up on the drywall mudding in the kitchen and hall. Instead yesterday, I worked on insulating. I did the space between our bedroom and the front room, and between the hall closet and front room. I also did the front room ceiling.
Not very exciting, but here are the bare rafters.
Here's all the insulation all over the floor.
And if you can tell, here's the insulation behind the plastic in the ceiling.
HH was even able to put in the electric box and wiring for the light in the front room!
Other than that it's been a pretty slow week, house-work-wise.
Have a great weekend! :-)
