Frames

Good morning!

I had a good day yesterday, working on my project.  (I still can't figure out why my pics aren't uploading to Google+.  My last pictures are from Aug 28!)

Anyway, here's a little project I did back in Jan, 2011.  I had a bunch of mismatched frames that I had in mind for a plan.  A plan for a gallery wall in our hallway!  (Which is still under construction almost 3 years later!  I am a long-term planner! :-))  I wanted to put up pictures of our family- all the cousins, aunt & uncles, and grandparents\parents- since most live so far away.

Here's how the frames looked when I started.

I've had some since high school!  And most are just old frames, probably from Walmart.

I primed with Zinsser Bullseye 123:

Then I took the matts and the backs of the frames and painted them black or cream.  I painted the frames cream and glazed them with a sand colored paint I got from the ReStore. (That plywood below was blocking off our former living room for the winter. You can see that we had the old red couch from NC in the kitchen. The kids were sharing what's now DD's room and their door opened to the kitchen.--Lots of changes since then!)

I put pictures in the frames and laid them out on our kitchen bench to see what kind of arrangement I liked.
I've since decided to maybe not do all our yearly American Thanksgiving family pictures in one frame. I'm not sure...  And I put the map that's on the right in the back room.

I was eager to put the frames up so I did, even though we didn't have a hallway.  This was back when we had started using the living room again in the fall of 2012.  Here's how the frames looked on the wall separating the kids' former room and the former living room.

This was actually the first day of school in 2012!  Look at their heavy backpacks! (and the corner of the old wingback chair!)

Now all the frames are just in our storage room, waiting to be hung up again!  Then I'll have a real 'after' photo! :-)
