Mothers' Day Weekend

Hi!

We had a nice weekend. For Mother's Day, I got a green smoothie in bed, some lovely cards and a lego creation. We had the inlaws up for dinner-lobster, BBQ steak, BBQ trout caught by FIL, falafels and sides! Plus a delicious chocolate cake for dessert!  Something for everyone!

HH, DS, DD and I made flowers for MIL.  Here are the supplies we used.

The final bouquet is on the table.  (I never got a good pic of just the flowers :-( )

It was nice to have the table back to it's bigger size. We moved the couch over, temporarily, but it either blocks DD's door or the door to the front so we had to make the table smaller again and put the couch behind the island.

HH made some progress on the front room this weekend. Here is the wall "Before"

And here's the "After, for now".
I decided to paint the bathroom cabinet.
It's an old microwave stand. It was laminate wood and I painted it white when we first did the bathroom. We had a white cabinet, white walls and trim, a white toilet and tub and a sorta cream colored sink. When we redid the bathroom a couple years ago, I painted the cabinet dark brown. It looked so much better and helped the sink not look so out of place .  The paint held up ok, but had a few marks where the paint had chipped off.  Also, the lefthand door kept falling off so I repaired it with some wood fill.  I was inspired by an orange tissue box. I thought the color looked nice and I had some leftover orange test paint so why not? :-)
Well, that tester paint is not the greatest. I used regular light blue Sico paint for the inside and it took one coat.( The same paint as this dresser.) I figured with the orange, it would need a darker base like red paint.  This was not the case.  Where there was white, the orange looked great.  But you can see above, after one coat it looked terrible!  So, I re-coated 5 times!
It still seems a bit tacky and I already knicked a bit of paint off by the handle. I hope it holds up ok....

:-)
