New (Old) Kitchen Chairs

Hi!

The first day of school went well for C.  N is still sick so he's home and I'm taking him to the doctor this morning.

Before my parents arrived, we needed to get new kitchen chairs.  We have a set of 4, but one is pretty broken. K tried to fix it a couple times, but N likes to wobble on his chair and it needs some extra TLC.

Anyway, after our trip to Ctown for the Harbour Hippo a couple weeks ago, we stopped at an antique store in Kensington where I picked up 2 nice chairs for the low, low price of $40 total (they were marked at $25/each plus tax so I got (I think) a good deal).

Here they are.
As you can see, right away, I decided to paint them.  I mixed up some home-made chalk paint, using my Venetian plaster and white satin paint and water.
I did 2 coats, noticed something bleeding thru so I spot primed with Zinsser, then did another coat of chalk paint. I distressed with sandpaper and finished with wax. ( I'd like to get some less toxic/smelly wax sometime...)

I like the white chairs.
So much,  that I might do the other 2 green kitchen chairs white, too!

Since the kitchen needs re-painting, I'm thinking of cream with some blue, the green might not go with the new colors so we'll see!

Have a great weekend!
 :-)
